Location: Kloof, Durban
Salary: R15k – R18k per month negotiable

About the Role:
The successful candidate will be working closely with the Manager of Media and Marketing to create memorable marketing material, for online and offline channels. Candidates should be critical thinkers, with a passion for social media and content marketing. Ideally, you will have journalism or brand copywriting experience (online or print) with a flair for crafting genuinely creative content, and a knack for finding intriguing angles in a B2B space.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism or Communications
Solid working knowledge of WordPress or similar content management systems
A portfolio demonstrating published creative works.
Excellent editing, writing and core journalism skills
Knowledge of content management systems, digital media trends, and SEO.

Duties:
Marketing Content:
Developing weekly original storytelling for web and social media platforms
Helping grow the company’s reach and engagement through editorial content in line with KPI metrics, increasing interaction and brand consideration
Researching and writing content for infographics, blog, newsletters, video, social, print media and other platforms, in line with content marketing strategy
Understand company’s products and services and simplify complex information to create meaningful differentiating collateral and content assets to support acquisition, consideration, conversion and retention - e.g. engagement specific content, product info sheets and brochures, educational material and explainers, white papers, case studies and presentations
Researching, identifying and understanding target audiences
Developing brand and audience personas
Crafting content in line with SEO principles
Reading and interpreting web and social media analytics and using it to enhance content generation.
Communications:
Create media releases, and media reference documents to create greater exposure for company, brands and programmes
Assist with researching and pitching story angles to targeted media contacts
Develop stories to support advocacy efforts
Sourcing, co-ordinating and conducting interviews to enhance brand storytelling
Create content features to showcase brand, products and services
Create content for advertising and advertorials
Assist in co-ordinating media enquiries and in building media relations that support business objectives.
SEO:
Crafting content in line with SEO principles
Fulfilling weekly/monthly SEO checklists
Creating and maintaining Google My Business listings, and implementing and managing Google My Business plans
Compiling Google Analytics and social media statistics for analysis and interpretation
Compiling and managing keywords for brands, products and services
Ensuring pages are correctly indexed, and keeping track of SERP results for targeted keywords.
Marketing:
Uploading content to website and social media, and social media moderation
Contributing fresh ideas to brainstorming and other marketing planning sessions
Assisting with ad hoc marketing activities, as required, e.g. market research, sourcing quotes, compiling media packs, maintaining press clippings book, marketing databases, analytics reporting, etc.
Assisting with compiling editorial calendars, in line with content and marketing strategies
Researching current industry trends via print media or online.
